You are cordially invited to attend the follow-up course (Phase 2) of the SALEX '97 Course which was presented in Grahamstown, South Africa, in September 1997, and was organised by the Dictionary Unit for South African English.


VENUE for AFRILEX-SALEX'98: Economic Science Building, University of Pretoria, Roper Street, Pretoria, South Africa.



Registration fee includes a full set of the Course material, tea and coffee, as well as access to computer facilities and the Internet. Sponsorship for lunches as well as for Dinner on the first evening and the farewell cocktail has not as yet been confirmed.


ORGANISATION: All aspects of the conference organisation will be handled by the Organiser, Prof. D.J. Prinsloo, and all correspondence, queries, etc. should be directed to him at the address given above.


REGISTRATION: To register for the Conference, please complete the registration form and return it to the Organiser with the registration fee to reach him no later than 20 August 1998.


ACCOMMODATION: Delegates must make their own bookings in hotels and guest houses of their choice. Pretoria Guest House Reservations (a one-stop service) can assist you in booking accommodation in a large variety of Guest Houses, hotels and even very basic accommodation in backpackers.

Guest Houses: Ranging from R150 R300 per day

Formule 1 Hotel: Approximately R110 per day (up to 3 guests per room)

Backpackers: Approximately R40 per day

TRAVELLING ARRANGEMENTS: The distance between the Johannesburg International Airport and Pretoria is approximately 60 km. A shuttle service between the Airport and the City Centre is available on the hour in both directions. Tickets: R50 (one way). The One-stop service for Guest Houses mentioned above, has its own alternatives for direct transport between the Airport and the Guest Houses. Car rental could also be considered as an option for your transport needs for the duration of the Training Course.
